Pricing:

Pricing is the biggest challenge in any business. In Honduras, lifestyles are simple which keep the cost of living quite low. The Mariposa is priced to compete locally, yet provides a level of quality and service comparable with many US hotel chains. We have outfitted the Mariposa to a standard we would be comfortable staying in and with many amenities that are not available in resorts costing hundreds of dollars a day. There are a lot of budget hotels in Central America, and in many cases you get what you pay for. At the Mariposa you get a whole lot more.

What to expect

Taxi fares from the airport start at $ 25.00 US. As in most countries, it's a good idea to agree on the price before you get in, to avoid disputes later. The ride from the airport will take about 20-25 minutes. The main street of West End runs along the beach and past the shops and restaurants. The Mariposa Lodge is about 300 feet up a quiet side street that runs up the hill in the center of town. Electricity is North American 120 Volt standard but short power outages are frequent. While the tap water is reasonably safe in West End, most tourists stick to the bottled water we supply. Be sure to book a massage early on, to get rid of leftover travel stress.
